In Those Days

In those days when we had no gadgets of any sort, no mobile phones at all to while away time. As siblings and kids growing up, we could play, fight, chat, argue and do some board or card games.

Then bond among families was in line, in tune and in place. We could barely be alone, let alone be lonely.
.
Then virtually all activities involved two or more persons. We studied together, played together; fetched water together; rehearsed together; fought with one another and shared our lives with each other. Living was participatory, interactive, involving and beautiful.
.
Back in the days, some faithful cool breezy evenings, I could remember, when the lights went off, we sat together on a wide mat like Christ's disciples with a lantern to wow the dark. While Big Brother narrated some fabricated animal story full of hyperbole, we listen with great admiration. They were amazingly told fairytales. Now, how I wish I could remember the numerous tales and make a book of it. Those good old days.
.
Today 'Smart Phones' are our best companions. Dad is punching his phone at one end of the bed, Mum facing the other end and doing some uploads, brother walking to the parlour while hitting some buttons of his phone real fast, sister in the bed-room doing some video chat and little Tom playing hard to win his game. All under the same roof. Together yet worlds apart.
.
I know things have greatly evolved in general. Quite good to some extent. So I'm not doing the blame thing.
.
But how did we really get here. Children of today, hope you wouldn't mind telling me how your kiddo days were?
